Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Southlands Christian's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Southlands Christian put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Western Pioneers get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won nine games by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Natalia Bargas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bargas was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Southlands Christian let Emily Acosta and Lauren Lopez run wild. Acosta scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Lopez scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Lopez has posted since back in March. Taya Marvel was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Southlands Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Southlands Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Western, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southlands Christian will host Calvary Chapel at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Western, they will challenge Los Amigos at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be the Pioneers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
