Basketball Recap: Salida Spartans vs. James Irwin Jaguars
In what's become a running theme this season, the Salida Spartans gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They breezed by James Irwin at home to the tune of 51-14. The victory was familiar territory for Salida who now have three in a row.
Salida's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braeden Johnson, who scored 14 points along with seven steals. Johnson hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. Graysa Kindle was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Salida's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.7 points. As for James Irwin, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Salida will head out on the road to square off against the Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Banning Lewis Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games. As for James Irwin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Thunder at 5:30 p.m.
