Preview: North Sanpete Hawks vs. Carbon Dinos
The North Sanpete Hawks will be home for the holidays to greet the Carbon Dinos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carbon took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on North Sanpete, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, North Sanpete earned a 61-50 win over Gunnison Valley. The win made it back-to-back wins for North Sanpete.
It was another big night for Ridge Hendry, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of North Sanpete's points. Cole Cook was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Carbon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 54-48 to Providence Hall.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zeke Willson, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ryker Butler , who scored six points along with 11 rebounds.
The win got North Sanpete back to even at 3-3. As for Carbon, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: North Sanpete have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 46.2% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Carbon struggles in that department as they've nailed 38.5% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
North Sanpete lost to Carbon at home by a decisive 74-58 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for North Sanpete, Braxton Stevenson (who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
