Basketball Recap: Socorro Takes a Loss

Socorro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Moriarty Pintos 61-14. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pintos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Moriarty's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Presley Edwards, who posted 14 points along with eight boards and seven steals. Edwards has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbie Beukelman, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

Socorro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Moriarty, their record is now 7-10.

Socorro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-38 loss against Sandia Prep on the 21st. Moriarty has also already played their next game, a 43-28 win against Los Alamos on the 23rd.
