Football Recap: Superior Skates Past Baboquivari with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Superior). They blew past the Baboquivari Warriors 48-6 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Superior to victory, but perhaps none more so than Antonio Lopez, who threw for 212 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 54 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. That's the most rushing yards Lopez has posted since back in September of 2024. Andrew Blair was another key back, rushing for 193 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Superior proved: they limited Baboquivari to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Caleb Lopez for the heroic effort on defense: he. Superior didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 15.1.

Superior's defense didn't let Kason Garcia., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. Baboquivari's QB won't forget Adam Sandoval anytime soon given he sacked him three times.

The victory was the third in a row for Superior, bringing their record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.3 points over those games. As for Baboquivari, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Superior will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Fort Thomas at 7:00 p.m. The Panthers will be up against the Apaches' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Baboquivari, they will head out to face off against Valley Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Blue Devils have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
