Softball Recap: Stryker Takes a Loss

Stryker extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against the Edon Bombers, falling 23-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Bombers since May 10, 2018.

Stryker saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addalee Fulk, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That run was Fulk's first of the season.

As for Edon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games.

On Edon's side, Amanda Schwartz was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Schwartz a new career-high. Kaylynn Bartlett was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stryker will square off against Hilltop at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cadets have averaged an impressive 12.8 runs per game this season. As for Edon, they will face off against Holgate at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Bombers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
