York gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They put the hurt on the Morse Shipbuilders with a sharp 13-6 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as York also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Ben Brown made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Jacobsohn, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Bradley Carr, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

On Morse's side, Ashford Hays made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with a home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Harvey, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Morse and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

York will be playing at home against Wells at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Morse, they will head out on the road to square off against Medomak Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
