Football Preview: Lockney Longhorns vs. Hale Center Owls

Lockney is 0-7 against Hale Center since September of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Longhorns will be playing at home against the Owls at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Lockney and Ralls had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Longhorns blew past the Jackrabbits 48-20 on Friday. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kason Villareal and Russell Casillas. Villareal gained 184 total yards and two touchdowns while Casillas rushed for 122 yards and two scores on only six carries. Villareal got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 90 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Rodriguez, who threw for 145 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes.

Lockney was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 342 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Hale Center had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 34-28 W against the Hornets.

Hale Center's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Lockney, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
