Basketball Game Preview: York Dukes vs. Waverly Vikings

The York Dukes will head out on the road to face off against the Waverly Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

York is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Adams Central on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. York lost 61-38 to Adams Central.

York might have lost, but man, Ryan Huston was a machine: he almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. Huston is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Oberle, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Waverly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blair.

Waverly's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for York, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

York came up short against Waverly in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 67-55. Can York avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
