The Cane Bay Cobras will square off against the Stratford Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cane Bay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Cane Bay and Wando, and Wando kept the tradition alive. The Cobras took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Friday.
Ethan Dodson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Tre Lawrence was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Stratford waltzed into their matchup on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Bengals.
Bryce Herpolsheimer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Walter Argrett was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jachin Davis, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Stratford's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.2 runs across that stretch. As for Cane Bay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.
Cane Bay skirted past Stratford 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Do the Cobras have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
