Basketball Recap: Allentown Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Pennington

While Allentown didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 40-36 victory over the Pennington Red Hawks on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Redbirds' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Red Hawks are ranked 29th).

The victory made it two in a row for Allentown and bumps their season record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 54 points in those games. As for Pennington, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Allentown has already played their next game (against West Windsor-Plainsboro South), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pennington also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Lawrenceville School.
