Basketball Recap: Hooper Bay Comes Up Short

Hooper Bay was the 40-35 winner over Unalakleet when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hooper Bay Warriors lost 48-26 to the Unalakleet Wolfpack on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Wolfpack are ranked tenth).

This is the second loss in a row for Hooper Bay and nudges their season record down to 4-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-2 Chevak (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 86.5% over those games). As for Unalakleet, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3.

Hooper Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Unalakleet, they have already played their next game, a 51-45 win against Chevak on the 7th.
