Basketball Game Preview: Dollar Bay Bays vs. Johnston Speedboys

Dollar Bay and Johnston are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Dollar Bay Bays will be playing in front of their home fans against the Johnston Speedboys at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Dollar Bay will be strutting in after a win while Johnston will be coming in after a defeat.

Dollar Bay is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 71-25 victory over Watersmeet. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bays as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Evelyn Moilanen was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Macy Jurgensen, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 17 points and eight steals.

Dollar Bay was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Johnston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 46-38 to Hurley.

Johnston's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Dollar Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Dollar Bay came up short against Johnston in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 66-60. Can Dollar Bay avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
