Basketball Recap: Fort Mill Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Natyia Parker and Saylor Heberling

Fort Mill lost against Clover back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets took a 38-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clover Blue Eagles. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fort Mill's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Saylor Heberling, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds, and Natyia Parker, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Fort Mill is 4-2 when Heberling posts eight or more boards, but 3-5 otherwise.

Clover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Lewter led the charge by putting up 11 points and five rebounds. Lewter has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Clara Powell was another key player, posting six points along with ten boards and three steals.

Fort Mill's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Clover, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

Fort Mill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-41 win against Rock Hill on the 7th. As for Clover, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-25 victory against Northwestern on the 7th.
