Basketball Recap: Nease Panthers vs. Tocoi Creek Toros
Nease was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 68-46 to the Tocoi Creek Toros. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-40 back in December of 2024.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Kuhl, who went 6 for 14 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Reid Foster, who posted nine points.
Tocoi Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Javares Rickerson out in front who went 7 of 13 to rack up 21 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Rickerson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Gilbert, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.
Nease's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Tocoi Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Nease has already played their next matchup, a 55-42 win against First Coast on the 3rd. As for Tocoi Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-58 victory against Matanzas on the 5th.
