Basketball Game Preview: Patrick Henry Patriots vs. Fleming Colonels

Patrick Henry is 1-9 against Fleming since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Patrick Henry Patriots will square off against the Fleming Colonels at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Patrick Henry was fully in charge, breezing past Blacksburg 77-43. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 31 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fleming blew past Staunton River, posting a 64-33 win. Given the Colonels' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 328th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fleming's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Patrick Henry, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Patrick Henry couldn't quite finish off Fleming in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 and fell 50-47. Can Patrick Henry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
