Preview: Oakwood Academy Mustangs vs. St. John Paul II Falcons
The Oakwood Academy Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the St. John Paul II Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Oakwood Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Valley Head 105-54 at home. That looming 105-54 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Oakwood Academy yet this season.
Daniel Jones was a one-man wrecking crew for Oakwood Academy as he scored 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Aeric Reid was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, St. John Paul II didn't have too much trouble with the Rebels at home on Tuesday as they won 69-52. The win was just what St. John Paul II needed coming off of a 72-36 loss in their prior game.
Oakwood Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for St. John Paul II, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Oakwood Academy came up short against the Falcons in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 70-63. Can Oakwood Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
