Baseball Recap: Ryle Triumphs

Ryle's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Covington Catholic Colonels by a score of 8-4. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Colonels: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Anthony Coppola, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ryle's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

Ryle's record is now 7-5. As for Covington Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ryle will challenge Corbin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covington Catholic, they will face off against Bishop Brossart at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colonels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
