Recap: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Calvary Christian Warriors
The Mitchell Mustangs had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 71-55 win over Calvary Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Ben Unger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cayden Thomas, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Mitchell's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for Calvary Christian, they have fallen quite a ways from their 22-6 record last season and are now at 3-5.
Mitchell won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on December 16th. St. Petersburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mitchell in Florida (St. Petersburg is ranked 180th, while Mitchell is ranked 409th). Calvary Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Green Level at 1:00 p.m. on December 28th.
