Softball Recap: East Henderson's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

East Henderson had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Asheville Cougars on Friday as they made off with an 11-1 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

The team relied heavily on Kelsey Barnwell, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Marybeth Blackwell was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

East Henderson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Asheville struck out seven times.

East Henderson's victory bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Asheville, they are on a 32-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Henderson will challenge Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Asheville, they will take on Erwin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
