It has been quite the season for the Ponchatoula High School girls' basketball team. With a new coach there were many obstacles to overcome and bonds to be formed. This team came together and pushed their talents to the max while driven by a stellar coaching staff. The Ponchatoula Green Wave had an amazing year with a 32-3 season, placing them No. 66 in the MaxPreps Computer Rankings.

The 9th Annual MaxPreps Basketball Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard visited the Tangipahoa parish area school to present the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to the championship team. Everyone present was proud to see the Green Wave girls' basketball team receive this award for all of their hard work. The Lady Green Wave are very proud of each other and happy to represent their school with such an amazing season.

"We were blown away at the beginning of the season when we were ranked in the top five of the state. But to be ranked on a national level by MaxPreps is a dream come true and is one of the highlights of our season. We're excited about this honor," said Ponchatoula head basketball coach Patricia Landaiche.

During the assembly, Sergeant Kell and Staff Sergeant Chris Gascon of the Louisiana Army National Guard congratulated the team on their accomplishment and presented the prestigious Army National Guard national ranking trophy to Coach Landaiche and her team. With the whole student body present, the crowd went wild when the girls raised the trophy over their heads.

After the presentation, the coach and team took formal photos and were also interviewed by local media on site.

Congratulations to the Ponchatoula girls' basketball team on a great season and national ranking!
