Softball Recap: Hillsboro Wins Going Away Against Miami Trace

Hillsboro won against Sheridan last Saturday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Indians put the hurt on the Miami Trace Panthers with a sharp 7-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Camryn Spruell made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Madison Dearmon and Addley Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Dearmon scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Miller went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Dearmon also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Addie Huff was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Hillsboro's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Miami Trace, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Hillsboro will have a chance to go back-to-back against Miami Trace: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
