Football Recap: Jones Takes a Loss

Jones was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dr. Phillips Panthers. The Fightin' Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Jones' loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Dr. Phillips, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Jones and Dr. Phillips should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Fightin' Tigers (ranked 173rd) will meet Oak Ridge (ranked 348th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Jones 14, the Pioneers 13.9) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Dr. Phillips will take on Evans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (67 vs. 338).
