Soccer Game Preview: Veterans Memorial vs. Pieper

Veterans Memorial hasn't had much luck against Pieper recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Veterans Memorial Patriots will host the Pieper Warriors at 7:15 p.m.

Veterans Memorial is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They lost 7-1 to Boerne. Things were pretty much settled by the half as the Patriots were already down 4-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Fausto Castro, who's now up to nine this season.

Meanwhile, Pieper waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. Their defense stepped up to hand the Antlers a 2-0 shutout. The Warriors' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Pieper's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six games. As for Veterans Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
