League recap: Capistrano Valley Christian's league-best two wins lead to standings climb

San Joaquin league recap: 5/22/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Capistrano Valley Christian, which finished with two wins overall, good for best in the league. The Eagles beat Joshua Springs 20-1 and Sierra Canyon 6-4.

First place in San Joaquin belongs to Capistrano Valley Christian, which has compiled a 22-8 overall record to go with its 12-0 league record. Tarbut V'torah is 4 games back and in second place with an 8-4 league record.

Fairmont Prep led the league with 37 runs scored this week, but the Eagles still hold the season lead with 234 runs.

Fairmont Prep struck out 82 times as a team over the past week, but Southlands Christian is still the biggest offender of strikeouts on the season, with 143 in all.

The Huskies' Kengco Tsuchiya was locked in this week, and led the league with a .462 average (6-for-13) over that span. His average for the season stands at .579, which ranks third in the league. Tsuchiya has accumulated 11 base knocks this year so far.



Fairmont Prep's Logan Okawachi led the league with ten hits this week. He is 18th in the league with 13 hits this year, and has a .382 batting average.

The Eagles' Nicholas Gonzalez struck out 11 La Sierra Academy hitters en route to a 16-1 victory on May 14. He gave up six hits and one run over seven innings of work.
