Basketball Game Preview: Gilroy Mustangs vs. Live Oak Acorns

Gilroy and Live Oak are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Gilroy Mustangs will square off against the Live Oak Acorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Gilroy came up short against Evergreen Valley and fell 53-44. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1169th, while the Cougars are ranked 561st).

Meanwhile, Live Oak blew past Mt. Pleasant, posting a 70-38 victory. That looming 70-38 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Acorns yet this season.

The win made it two in a row for Live Oak and bumps their season record up to 9-10. As for Gilroy, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Gilroy came up short against Live Oak in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 52-41. Can Gilroy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
