Softball Recap: Atascadero Greyhounds vs. Pioneer Valley Panthers
Atascadero extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-18 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Pioneer Valley Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-0 loss back in April.
As for Pioneer Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-11. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
For Pioneer Valley's part, they got a great performance from Ciena Acosta as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Acosta has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mila Dolores, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anysia Aguilus, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
As of now, neither Atascadero nor Pioneer Valley have any future games scheduled.
