Softball Preview: Waynedale Golden Bears vs. Chippewa Chipps
The Waynedale Golden Bears will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Chippewa Chipps at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Wooster scored an imposing 14 runs in Saturday's second game, Waynedale still came out on top. Waynedale skirted past Wooster 15-14.
Waynedale let Brooke Compston and Kendall Rising loose on the outfield. Compston scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Rising scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Nevaeh Persinger was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, Chippewa waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 4-1.
Waynedale's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Chippewa, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
