Softball Recap: Geneva County Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Geneva County entered their tilt with New Brockton on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 13-10 victory over the Gamecocks. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Gamecocks two weeks ago, they had to take a 15-7 defeat.

Geneva County let Maci Strickland and Kaylee Watson run wild. Strickland scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Watson scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Watson has posted since back in April of 2024. Jaden-Scott Majors was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Geneva County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for New Brockton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Geneva County will welcome Graceville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Brockton, they will host Kinston at 5:00 p.m. on the 31st.
