Softball Game Preview: Willard Crimson Flashes vs. Clyde Fliers

The Willard Crimson Flashes will head out to challenge the Clyde Fliers at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Willard has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight losses, while Clyde will come in with four straight wins.

Willard came up short against Edison on Wednesday, falling 22-2.

Kenley Bond made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Clyde got themselves on the board against Perkins on Wednesday, but Perkins never followed suit. They blew past the Pirates 18-0. The result was nothing new for the Fliers, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Clyde pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Willard, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Willard might still be hurting after the 19-5 loss they got from Clyde in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Crimson Flashes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
