Softball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Comes Up Short

After soaring to 14 runs the game before, St. Thomas Aquinas was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 4-1 to the Coral Reef Barracudas. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

St. Thomas Aquinas got a good showing from Ayla Sato, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave Sato a new career-low in hits.

At the plate, St. Thomas Aquinas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessica Sacca, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

St. Thomas Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Coral Reef, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Looking ahead, St. Thomas Aquinas will square off against Bishop Verot at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Verot is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Coral Reef, they will face off against Archbishop McCarthy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Archbishop McCarthy has won three straight at home, while Coral Reef won seven straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
