Soccer Game Preview: Western Albemarle vs. Rocktown

The Western Albemarle Warriors will take on the Rocktown Raptors on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Western Albemarle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Liberty Christian a 3-0 shutout. Western Albemarle might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Rocktown came tearing into Friday's match with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.1 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Little Giants. Given Rocktown's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Waynesboro are ranked 85th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Western Albemarle has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those nine contests. As for Rocktown, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1-1.
