The Sand Rock Wildcats lost to the Sylvania Rams back in January, but the Sand Rock Wildcats didn't allow the Sylvania Rams the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Sand Rock enjoyed a cozy 71-52 win over Sylvania. Given Sand Rock's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Sylvania is ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Sand Rock to victory were Katelyn St.Clair and Zoey Handy. St.Clair scored 25 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds, while Handy scored 25 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. The match was St.Clair's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Kennedy Henderson was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Sand Rock has yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 5-2 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Sylvania, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Sand Rock will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Piedmont at 6:00 p.m. As for Sylvania, they will head out on the road to face off against Fyffe at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
