Campo Verde has been away from home for three games now, but on Friday they'll finally make their return. They will host the Gilbert Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, everything went Campo Verde's way against McClintock as Campo Verde made off with a 34-14 win.

Campo Verde had a senior duo take command as Karsten Lee rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries and Bobby Blackburn gained 114 total yards and two touchdowns. Blackburn also set a new season high mark in rushing yards with 84.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Campo Verde was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.

Campo Verde wouldn't let McClintock keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Jack Crossley, Drew Pollard, Lucas Wallace, and Peytyn Weimer picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Gilbert strolled past Skyline with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 36-22. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Gilbert can attribute much of their success to Braden Eddy, who rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown. Those 142 rushing yards gave Eddy a new career-high. Jonathan Guy got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Gilbert didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Denim Smith and Carson Hepner. Gilbert got some further help from Jalen Gowler: he picked up a sack, forced a fumble, and made 11 total tackles.

Campo Verde's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. As for Gilbert, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.
