Recap: Havelock Rams vs. East Carteret Mariners

The Havelock Rams lost against the East Carteret Mariners back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Havelock fell 52-43 to East Carteret. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Havelock in their matchups with East Carteret: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Havelock lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caidance Hemry. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Adaija Cypress, who scored 11 points along with four steals.

Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Estella Lewis was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.

Havelock's loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-4. As for East Carteret, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Havelock will take on Pamlico County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pamlico County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for East Carteret, they will head out on the road to face off against Swansboro at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Swansboro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 40 on Thursday.
