Softball Recap: Lamar Comes Up Short

Lamar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-3 to the New Caney Eagles. The Texans were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Hailey Hernandez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two).

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for New Caney, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Lamar will venture away from home to square off against Sterling at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Caney, they will challenge Iowa Colony at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
