Basketball Preview: Turlock Bulldogs vs. Downey Knights
Turlock has been on the road for five straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Downey Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Last Friday, Turlock lost to the Pride on the road by a decisive 62-48 margin. Turlock has not had much luck with the Pride recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, even though Modesto scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, Downey still came out on top. Downey put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 78-57 victory. That looming 78-57 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Downey yet this season.
Reuben Lewis was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Coelho, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Turlock has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Downey, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-16.
Turlock didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Knights in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 60-56 win. Will Turlock repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
