Softball Game Preview: Coolidge Bears vs. Valley Christian Trojans

The Coolidge Bears will challenge the Valley Christian Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Coolidge's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Globe by a score of 15-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian entered their tilt with Seton Catholic on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Sentinels 16-1. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly 15 runs.

Sophie Kercsmar was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Abrielle Jarles was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Valley Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Valley Christian pushed their record up to 19-2-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Coolidge, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
