Basketball Recap: Madison Triumphs

Madison waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They slipped by the Draughn Wildcats 40-39. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in January, they had to take a 57-48 loss.

Paige Peek had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sarah Ball, who posted five points along with six assists and five boards.

Madison's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Draughn, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison will head out to square off against Avery County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avery County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season. As for Draughn, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Draughn Wildcats duke it out with the Rosman Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
