Softball Recap: South Lyon East's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Lyon East waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mott Corsairs a 15-0 shutout. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Paulina Ankawi (2025) was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, South Lyon East got a massive performance out of Olivia McPherson (2026), who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave McPherson (2026) a new career-high. Sophie Ray (2026) also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

South Lyon East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.

South Lyon East pushed their record up to 8-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mott, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
