Baseball Game Preview: Orleans Bulldogs vs. Barr-Reeve Vikings

Orleans is 1-7 against Barr-Reeve since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Vikings at 5:30 p.m.

Orleans is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Washington. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly three runs.

Meanwhile, Barr-Reeve won against Loogootee on Tuesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Mitchell. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

The win (which was Barr-Reeve's third in a row) raised their record to 17-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Orleans, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.

Orleans couldn't quite get it done against Barr-Reeve in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 as they fell 9-5. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
