Softball Recap: Keller Has No Trouble Against Northwest

Keller was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Northwest on Friday. Keller was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Northwest. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Keller got a great performance from Avery Lawton as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits Lawton has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Annsley Groce, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydona Meiser, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Keller was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive games.

Keller's win bumped their record up to 14-6-1. As for Northwest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Keller will face off against Bell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keller is facing Bell at the right time seeing as Bell is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Northwest, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Keller Central at 7:00 p.m. on April 4.
