Softball Recap: Union Area Finds Playoff Glory Versus Cambridge Springs

Union Area had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They didn't even let the Cambridge Springs Devils on the board on Monday, marking the Scotties' second-straight 8-0 shutout. Considering the Scotties have won 19 games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Mia Preuhs, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Cambridge Springs off the board. Preuhs has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Olivia Williams was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Irelyn Fisher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

The win was the sixth in a row for Union Area, bringing their record up to 22-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cambridge Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Coming up, Union Area will challenge Northeast Bradford at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Scotties 0.8, the Panthers 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Cambridge Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
