Basketball Recap: St. Mary Comes Up Short

St. Mary has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against the Glen Lake Lakers on Thursday, falling 54-34. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Lakers are ranked 50th).

Glen Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Plamondon led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. Plamondon has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Houtteman, who posted 11 points and five boards.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Glen Lake, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-1.

St. Mary has already played their next matchup, a 46-38 loss against Suttons Bay on the 21st. As for Glen Lake, they will be taking part in a tournament against St. Francis at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
