Basketball Recap: Vallivue Victorious

Vallivue won the last time they faced Caldwell, and Victor Gutierrez did his part to make sure it happened again. The Vallivue Falcons snuck past the Caldwell Cougars with a 61-56 win on Wednesday thanks in part to Gutierrez, who went 12 of 19 en route to 29 points and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Israel Hernandez, who posted four points. He also pulled down two rebounds, marking his first of the season.

Vallivue's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Caldwell, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-6.

Vallivue will square off against Bishop Kelly at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vallivue is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.7 points per game this season. As for Caldwell, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Caldwell Cougars face off against the Columbia Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbia will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Caldwell surely won't give up without a fight.
