Hughson came tearing into Friday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Escalon Cougars with a sharp 13-4 win. Considering the Huskies have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce McDaniel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lawson Aviles, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Beau Blake was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Hughson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Escalon only posted a batting average of .267.

Hughson pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Escalon, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hughson will face off against rival Hilmar at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 2.5, the Yellowjackets 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Escalon is set to take on their familiar foe Ripon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
