Baseball Game Preview: Tri-Valley Scotties vs. Sheridan Generals

For the second straight game, Tri-Valley will face off against Sheridan. The Scotties will face off against the Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Sheridan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tri-Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Sheridan a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Scotties, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brady Kaufman made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kade Hindel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Daniel Huffman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Tri-Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheridan only posted a batting average of .211.

Tri-Valley pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sheridan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tri-Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Sheridan struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
