Basketball Game Preview: Plattsburgh Hornets vs. Franklin Academy Huskies

The Plattsburgh Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Franklin Academy Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Plattsburgh will face Franklin Academy after dropping another heartbreaker against Saranac Lake on Friday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 3.1 of beating them. Plattsburgh fell 63-52 to Saranac Lake. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Red Storm recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Franklin Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 64-43 to Potsdam. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Sandstoners are ranked 122nd).

Franklin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Plattsburgh, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3.

Plattsburgh strolled past Franklin Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 65-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plattsburgh since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
