Softball Recap: Hendrickson Gets the Win

Hendrickson hadn't done well against Georgetown recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Hawks came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 9-4. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Eagles back in March, they had to take a 1-0 defeat.

Kara Luongo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

Luongo wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zoey Kellam, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Hendrickson's win bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Georgetown, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 21-9 record.

Looking ahead, Hendrickson will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pflugerville at 6:00 p.m. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.16 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Georgetown, they will venture away from home to face off against Weiss at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The - will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
