Soccer Recap: Yoakum Takes a Loss

Yoakum has been struggling as of late, and they have yet to win a game this season. They lost 5-1 to the La Vernia Bears on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 809th, while the Bears are ranked 369th).

Yoakum's loss dropped their record down to 0-9-1. As for La Vernia, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yoakum will venture away from home to challenge San Antonio Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for La Vernia, they will head out to square off against Cole at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Vernia knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Cole likes a good challenge.
